“The doctors say it’s a miracle”, Sadie Sink Escaped a Fatal Accident?
Stranger Things has finally wrapped up Season 4, and it has been a journey! The 142-minute grand finale completely flipped the existing state of affairs Upside Down (pun intended). The inevitable apocalyptic scenario had every character, especially Max (Sadie Sink) fighting till their last.
This makes the dichotomy between the triumphant victories and the devastating deaths as well as injuries appear stronger. However, being Vecna’s (Jamie Campbell) prime target, no one endured more than Max (Sadie Sink). But the million-dollar question remains… Is it the end of Max?

Jumping on the Season 4 meme bandwagon, the Stranger Things Writer’s room tweeted a post as a nod to Max’s condition. Spoilers ahead!
Stranger Things Writers’ nod to Max’s condition
In the finale, even though Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) somehow snatches Max from the claws of death, she is barely hanging on. Max is in a coma with her arms and legs shattered. At that time, Lucas’ character said that the doctors still don’t know if she will ever wake up but consider it a miracle that she is still alive.
After the emotional finale, @strangerwriters made light of the situation with a hilarious tweet. It has a smiling picture of Sadie Sink with a plaster on her arm and leg. It appears as if she had just escaped from a fatal accident. The witty caption, “The doctors say it’s a miracle…” as a reference to the season’s final moments. Needless to say, the Stranger Things Writer’s room twitter handle has a wit that can amuse even Vecna.
Max’s (Sadie Sink) fate on a cliffhanger
The final episode, packed with revelations, gut-punching deaths, and some major setup for Season 5, still left Max’s fate up in the air. Despite not being one of the original characters, since season 2, Max has maintained an important role in the show. She has close relationships with Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) and Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and serves as an emotional core.
Max’s conflicting feelings and trauma around her brother Billy’s (Dacre Montgomery) death made her gullible and easy to manipulate for Vecna’s diabolical plan. In Season 4: Volume two, Max sets herself baits herself as a distraction for Vecna, which gives her friends a fighting chance. This results in an agonizing experience, as Vecna sees through the plan.

Vecna’s torture technique for Max includes the balloons from the Season 2 prom popping with a stream of blood gushing out from them. This is a probable homage to Stephen King’s IT. After going through Vecna’s entire gut-wrenching process, Max breathes her last in Lucas’s arms. However, Eleven then brings her back, but she is currently comatose.
Actor Sadie Sink has also been quite vocal about her journey as Max Mayfield in a conversation with Deadline. When asked about the finale and her fate, she exclaimed, “I have no idea what’s coming in five and what that looks like. Max’s storyline is very up in the air, cause obviously she’s in a coma and Eleven can’t find her in the void. So who knows where she is and what state she’s in”, she added
