When the season 2 ended, fans already had started speculating the central couple for Bridgerton season 3. The speculations went from Benedict and Sophie to Colin and Penelope or Eloise and Theo. Now as that we know Colin and Penelope will be at leads of the new season, fans have gone truly wild. Colin and Penelope were a fan favorite from the start of the show; and with Penelope revealed as Lady Whistledown, the anticipation of her courtship with Colin became even stronger.
<h2>Nicola Coughlan shares her excitement for Bridgerton season 3</h2>
Nicola Coughlan recently appeared with her co-star <a href="https://netflixjunkie.com/tag/charithra-chandran">Charithra Chandran</a> at an interview with E! News&#8217; <a href="https://www.eonline.com/shows/daily_pop" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Daily Pop</a> segment. During the interview, they were celebrating the news of the new lead couple Penelope and Colin. Coughlan breaks the news during the interview, which people have been half-expecting since it was revealed that the <a href="https://netflixjunkie.com/bridgerton-season-3-might-break-from-the-order-of-the-books-anyone-among-benedict-colin-and-eloise-can-now-fall-in-love/">series will stray from the book order</a>. While it&#8217;s news for everyone, Nicola already knew about it long ago. So, how does she feel being the new center of attention? &#8220;I&#8217;ve known for, like, two weeks into filming season two, so I had a lot of time to adjust to it,&#8221; said the Derry Girls actress.

<h2>What&#8217;s expected of Penelope Featherington&#8217;s story?</h2>
Penelope had wished to wait until debuting into the society. However, her mother forced her to present herself for marriage for the 1813 season. She didn&#8217;t care about anyone except for her crush Colin Bridgerton, with whom she was friends with since her childhood because of her friendship with his sister <a href="https://netflixjunkie.com/does-eloise-bridgerton-marry-in-the-books-will-the-series-portray-her-story-from-to-sir-philip-with-love/">Eloise</a>. But Colin never saw her as anything but a very good friend.

At the end of season one, Penelope was revealed to be Lady Whistledown herself. Season 2 started with Colin coming back from his travels but still pining for Marina. The season ended with Penelope overhearing the third Bridgerton born telling his friends he is not interested in her. Obviously, she is heartbroken. Interestingly enough, this is the start of their story arc in the <a href="https://netflixjunkie.com/bridgerton-books-author-characters-family-synopsis-where-to-order-signed-copies-and-more/">Bridgerton book</a>, Romancing Mr. Bridgerton.

Season 3 is going to be about Penelope and Colin&#8217;s impossible love. When Colin courts Penelope, he will find out the truth about Lady Whistledown. The question remains: How will he react? Based on its past seasons, season 3 too is likely to have a happy ending, so Colin has to work his way around Penelope&#8217;s real identity to get the happily ever after.
