Can ‘The Witcher’ Season 3 Set The Ground To Fix Yennifer’s Story?
The world has not known a sorceress as powerful as Yennefer of Vengerberg. From a distorted “ugly” looking girl to a woman desired by all and a mage who could end wars on her own, she is everything but feeble. She is a woman of an agency who gets to shift the power dynamics. While The Witcher season 1 saw her journey of transformation from a meek girl to a strong sorceress. Season 2 antagonized her and had her burning in wrath as she lost her powers.

Although she taught Ciri to control her chaos, Yenna joined hands with Voleth Meir, the death-less mother, as soon as the demon promised the sorceress her powers back in exchange for Ciri. It was not until the season 2 finale that Yenna redeemed herself by making a sacrifice to save the Cintran princess. The Witcher season 3 may give Yennefer a chance to correct her path
Each one of us is aware of the fact that the entire population of Witcherverse is chasing Ciri and her powers, including the mages. And all this is setting up history’s most gruesome battles: The Thanedd Coup. It took place on Thanedd island during the conclave of wizards. The sorcerers had by then divided themselves into two parties. While some supported the North, the others were loyal Nilfgaardians, and they both secretly planned to capture each other during the meeting. The Brotherhood of Sorcerers was disbanded as a result of the meeting’s violent turn and many casualties in The Witcher season 2.

And although Yennefer took a neutral take, she was a part of a secret organization, the Lodge of Sorceresses, formed by female mages as a result of the coup and led by Philippa Eilhart. They also pursued Ciri for erroneous reasons.
This is Yennefer’s chance to make up for what she did in season 2 by protecting Ciri and by providing the princess with the necessary training so she can better use and control her abilities. Through her participation in the takeover and the Lodge of Sorceresses, Yennefer’s dilemma could be resolved, giving her the chance to change her ways, win back Ciri and Geralt’s trust, and become much more than a troubled sorceress with an excess of power.
