Mike Wheeler has polarised viewers of Stranger Things from the show’s beginning. The character of Finn Wolfhard and his connection with El and the rest of our Hawkins favorites are beloved by many people. But not everyone likes him as much because of his current dynamic with Will. When it comes to Will and Mike’s friendship, Mike has remained mostly oblivious about Will’s sexuality in recent seasons.

While there are a lot of haters, Mike Wheeler has some supporters too. And they have a lot to say in his support.

Mike’s side of the story

Mike is finding it difficult to express his emotions in season 4. Eventually, Eleven confronts him about their relationship and the lack of love confessions he gives her. Many fans claim that Mike’s issue is that he takes it extremely seriously and works hard to be a better boyfriend, putting all of his attention on Eleven and their relationship.

While everyone is okay with Mike falling in love with Eleven, it is not well received because he frequently ignores and sidelines his friends, especially Will. And yet, this is not completely his fault. He is struggling with a long-distance relationship already, and then suddenly, El goes missing.

Many Will Byers fans were prepared to shatter their TVs when Mike began talking about how his life began the day he met El in the woods. Since Will vanished on that day, Mike may not have been able to say anything less sane in front of his buddy.

Mike has a fanbase in support

Fans appear to be mourning Mike from the first two seasons. He watched out for Will while he was being plagued by the Upside Down. He stayed by his side in the hospital until his friend woke up. Fans contend that Mike was able to successfully reconcile his loyalty to his friends with his affections for El.
