“CHRISSY WAKE UP… I don’t like this.” Eddie Munson’s sing-song appeal transforming into a sheer panic to get the cheerleader Chrissy Cunningham out of Vecna’s trance will forever be etched into our hearts. If only there was some way to wake Chrissy up and shield her from Vecna’s curse; Eddie would still be with us. Or at least not blamed for the entire fiasco. The aftermath of any brutally gut-wrenching and unforgiving show like Stranger Things leaves the audience somewhat disturbed. As a coping mechanism, we often try to bring light to tragic events with humor. From speculating on hilarious ways to get deceased characters back in season 5, to having multiple alternate theories, the fans are relentless. And the results are often so funny that you can’t help but wonder if they could be true.
The official Twitter account of Stranger Things also jumped on the bandwagon and posted a hysterical picture. It is a snap of Millie Bobby Brown in her quintessential Eleven persona, screaming to activate the full potential of her powers. What takes the cake is the even wittier caption saying “CHRISSY WAKE UP I”M SERIOUS.”
Honestly, if we know anything about Eleven’s potential, especially after her teenage cry, Chrissy sure would’ve come out of the trance. They hit the nail right on the head.
Chrissy’s horrific fate in season 4
Chrissy Cunningham, the queen of Hawkins High, was a new addition to Stranger Things. Sadly, the debutant was introduced and killed off in the first episode itself. The Duffer Brothers got no chill at all. For those in the dark, Chrissy’s death was also our first introduction to Vecna’s curse, even though we didn’t know the full extent of it.

The trauma of her mother’s death made Chrissy vulnerable and an easy target for Vecna. With the ghost of her grief getting stronger, Chrissy seeks drugs to ease her pain. That’s how she meets the D&D leader and outcast Eddie Munson. After sharing a beautiful equation with Chrissy, Eddie witnesses the dreadful death of the cheerleader. The bone-cracking, eye-popping, and body-deforming death. And thanks to the Satanic Panic, the poor thing gets blamed for the whole thing.

How we wish Eddie knew Chrissy’s version of Running up the Hill. Or if we consider the Stranger Things post as canon, Eleven’s scream might’ve done the trick. Too bad she wasn’t in the scene. What are your thoughts about the tweet? Let us know in the comments.
