‘Stranger Things’ Season 4: Where Have You Seen Victor Creel (Robert Englund) Before? Duffer Brothers Reveal the Character’s Inspirations
Avid horror fans will immediately recognize the “true legend from the world of horror” Robert Englund in the Stranger Things trailer. Robert is infamous for playing the melted face psychopath, Freddy Krueger in the Nightmare on Elm Street. He has also appeared in Supernatural, Charmed, and Hawaii 5-0. His Freddy Krueger was so popular that he got his own spin-off – Freddy Vs Jones. Now, the actor has joined the cast of Stranger Things as the madman, Victor Creel.
We see him in the trailer for merely a few seconds before it cuts to another scene. But the image is enough to send chills down your spine. Creel is shown with his eyes sewn shut.

The Duffer Brothers could not contain their excitement about this new development.
“It was just a dream come true to get him to come and play with us in this season. And he plays Victor Creel. And I don’t wanna give away too much about what role he plays other than to say that it’s pivotal and that Robert is really really incredible.”
How was Robert cast for the role?
As self-confessed horror fans, Duffer Brothers have drawn inspiration from his role in the Nightmare series. So they were astonished when he himself approached them.

“He kinda came to us. I never even thought to ask. I’d never have thought that he would even be interested in the show. It felt like okay this is meant to be. And he was just so generous in sharing his Freddy Krueger stories and just an incredible actor on set.”
Who is Victor Creel in Stranger Things?
Victor Creel is connected to the first Creel House teaser of Stranger Things. In the 1950s, the Creel family moved into the Creel House in Hawkins. Soon after, strange events started unfolding, and Victor ended up murdering his entire family gruesomely. Soon after he was deemed mentally ill and admitted to a psychiatric ward at the Pennhurst Mental Hospital. Since the Creel House is featured heavily in the trailer, it seems both the house and Victor Creel are connected to the Upside Down. And since Max is the only character show looking at the clock in the trailer, she is likely to be at the center of it all.
