London’s high profile four days comedy festival, Just For Laughs, is almost everywhere in the news following the many big revelations its star-studded speakers have made. Among many, also stands Ryan Reynolds, who spoke about his career in acting, business, and even about his private life with co-actor Rob Delaney.

The father of four sent the audience into an ‘aww’ moment when he almost revealed the name of his newborn child. The spectators had stomach-aching laughter when he shared his point of view on the irksome failure of his superhero flick, Green Lantern.

When the unavoidable topic of the 2011 DC failure, starring Ryan Reynolds, eventually came up, he expressed his regret with the words as per Variety, “too much time, too much money.” According to the Deadpool mercenary, the problem arose from the stem when people, instead of thinking through the character of Green Lantern, spent all the energy behind special effects.

According to Reynolds, even though it was “a lot of fun” to work with 180 plus people on the set; the “old school” way of thinking “did not work” for the superhero flick. Meanwhile, sitting at the premiere, watching the movie, the only words he could apparently recall were, “‘holy shit! And NO. NO!’”

When Rob Delaney further asked if the premiere made the Canadian actor’s “bu*t flutter?” Reynolds humorously replied, “Oh my God, it was like a ukelele down there. It was crazy,” putting his true wit on display. The actor further addressed that he spent the following year trying to own up to it, as it appeared the only way for him to “kind of process it.”

DC Universe is still willing to give Green Lantern another shot

While Ryan Reynolds occupied himself with the filming of Deadpool 3 alongside his long-term companion Hugh Jackman, James Gunn also announced a brand new series for Green Lantern. Hollywood stars Jordan and Stewart will star in Lanterns, a promising series from the overreaching DCU with the very first chapter titled ‘Gods & Monsters.’ From there on, Gunn has envisioned an eight to ten years of journey on both small and big screens.

Meanwhile, Reynolds’s third installment of Deadpool premieres only on Nov. 8, 2024, in your nearest cinemas. And his Green Lantern is currently streaming on HBO Max.
