Ryan Reynolds Compares Deadpool’s Budget With Thor’s, Reveals the MCU Movie Is Miles Ahead in Terms of Spending the Money

Ryan Reynolds surely fought with studios and struggled hard to get his dream film about Deadpool made. He gave the project his everything and stuck with it for a whole decade, compelling the studio to greenlit it. However, due to Ryan’s demands for making the film, R-rated. Fox was uncertain of its success, giving it an extremely low budget.

In his My Next Guest Needs No Introduction episode, Ryan actually talked about how low the budget really was as compared to other huge MCU films like Thor.

A comic book movie is one of the most expensive films to be made. Apart from the salaries of the A-list actors and crew, the movie itself demands a high budget. Extreme dependence on CGI and VFX makes the film easily go above the 100 million mark.

However, while talking about his love for Deadpool and the struggles he went on to make it, Ryan told David Letterman the extremely low budget they had for it.

“I mean we had very little money. It was a 58 million budget,” told The Adam Project actor to his host. Adding to it, Ryan shared to David how low 58 million is a budget for a comic book movie by saying, “That is the cocaine budget on Thor.

Ryan then went on to say that for him making Deadpool was a double-edged sword as the film’s success and failure both were on him.

Indeed it was a tight budget, Just compare it to Captain America: Civil War that came in the same year. Where Deadpool was made with just 58 million Civil War had a massive budget of 250 million dollars. That’s almost five times the former.

Things will be different with Deadpool 3

After seeing Deadpool’s success Fox gave Deadpool 2 a 110 million dollar budget but that is still nowhere compared to any Marvel film.

But now that Marvel has the right to X-Men, including Deadpool. And a Deadpool 3 movie with Shawn Levy is in the works. It is for certain that now Deadpool 3 will have a much larger budget.
