Natalia Dyer on Nancy’s difficult dating life
In an interview with Variety, Dyer opens up about her character, Nancy Wheeler. She believes Nancy has “been in a relationship for a while so maybe she needs some self-discovery time.”. She is conflicted regarding the love triangle. “I personally had some crunchy feelings about how the whole Jonathan thing started sort of behind Steve’s back. I can’t believe she did that.”
About the future of her character with Steve, she adds, “I just think she’s stronger now. I think she’s more sure of herself. So whatever she decides to do, she’ll do it for the right reasons.”. Dyer also illustrates that Steve and Nancy have grown up and come a long way since the beginning of the show. She explains that the season 4 storyline was “really fun and touching”. She ends the conversation by saying, “Truly, I have no idea where it’s gonna go but I do like that they at least still care about each other.”
Love interests of Nancy Wheeler on Stranger Things
In volume 1 of the show, Eddie (Joseph Quinn) observed that Nancy still had feelings for Steve (Joe Keery). This was after she plunged into the Upside Down to save him. Eddie also advises Steve to get Nancy back, “Because that is as unambiguous a sign of true love as these cynical eyes have ever seen.”
Eddie’s words appeared to have hit home with Steve as he takes action in Volume 2. He confides in Nancy about his dream of having a family with six kids and Nancy being an important part of that. It’s a beautiful and pure moment between the two, just before Robin (Maya Hawke) interrupts them. Jonathan’s (Charlie Heaton) return further adds to a damper and makes it trickier.
The romance between Nancy and Jonathan began back in Season 1 of the popular show. While they did spend a lot of time in season 2, following Nancy’s breakup, the duo only became a couple in the third season. Most fans also believe that the real-life pair have the best chemistry both on-screen and off-screen.
