“It’s built to try to make you backstab people” – Sydney Sweeney on The Dark Side of The Illustrious Hollywood Industry
Following her apparent fame after the unusual teen drama Euphoria, Sydney Sweeney has now become a household name. But like all the other pre-eminent entities out there, the success did not come to the now international star overnight. Being a Hollywood outsider, she has seemingly sweated blood to be where she is right now and has perhaps seen the flawed side of the multi-billion dollar paramount industry.
And ever since the 25-year-old Gen Z star made herself busy with numerous interviews, and public appearances, she has been rather vocal about her experiences in the industry. Back in 2022 also, Sweeney had an extensive talk on similar lines, and her current busy schedule and ‘no free time even for myself’ situation could not help but remind us of that.
While she was still growing as a star and had just kick-started her production line, Fifty-Fifty Films, and was constantly punishing herself with a heavy workload, doing one film or TV show after the other at the disposition of a pivotal time of her career, Sweeney also exposed herself to the harsh realities of the world’s largest filmmaking industry. Talking to The Hollywood Reporter, she addressed it is not as easy behind the doors as it seems to be on the facade of Hollywood. Opening up about the most unsettling observation she has made, Sweeney said, “It’s built to try to make you backstab people. It’s insane.”

Sydney Sweeney then talked about the commitment issues in Hollywood

According to her, loyalty and Hollywood does not go hand in hand! Sweeney confessed although she has a very good relationship with her agent and believes that she will have her “forever,” that is not exactly the case in Hollywood. It neither conforms to nor promotes commitment. Notably, even though she is with the crew of Euphoria for a considerable amount of time, the actress does not have anyone to vent to.
Notably, the now two times Emmy awards nominee once lived in a 1BHK apartment with her family and only had $800 to her name at the age of 18. She has seen the struggles of becoming a successful celebrity and the insane level of hustle to reach an applaudable level. And with her exposition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Madame Web, and many slated productions, including the horror flick Immaculate, she is perhaps unstoppable now.
