“I wanted to make sure Simone felt safe”: Jonathan Bailey Reveals What Went Into Shooting Intimate Scenes on ‘Bridgerton’ Season 2
Shooting intimate scenes are already awkward for actors. And on top of that, the whole crew watching adds to the unpleasantness for the actors. Bridgerton made a name for itself for the intimate scenes peppered in it with season 2, we can expect nothing less.
Recently, in an Interview, Jonathan Bailey, who plays protagonist Lord Anthony Bridgerton on the show, talked about shooting these scenes and called them “Choreographed Dances.” Let us take a deeper look into the British actors’ comments on the show’s filing process of intimate scenes.
What’s the process behind filming such scenes?

Shooting intimate scenes involved the same amount of safety and consent as shooting action sequences. The comfort level of both the actors are of prime importance. And intimacy coordinators make sure that both the actors feel comfortable and secure while shooting such scenes.
While talking about shooting affectionate scenes in the show’s first season and probably in the second season. Actor Jonathan Bailey talks about how these scenes are shot from a “female gaze.” He feels this makes the female star involved feel at ease.
“For a man, it is less exposing. I wanted to make sure Simone [Ashley] felt safe as a newcomer on-set,” said the actor in the interview.
Bailey further explained what went into shooting these sequences. He said that intimacy coordinators play a huge role and whoever wants to go talk to them can go and clear any of their concerns.
Moreover, actors give their consent before these scenes. “Consenting which bit of skin we are going to show in each scene and where we will be touched and how,” he added.
