But is it the right movie for Henry Cavill’s Superman to make a comeback in? 

Clark Kent, a.k.a. Superman, is one of the most iconic superheroes in the DC extended universe. Through all the controversies and news, Cavill’s return as the Man of Steel has become crucial. And, Black Adam might not be the perfect film for Cavil to put on his Superman suit again, here’s why.

Why should Henry Cavill not return to DCEU through Black Adam?

It has been almost five years since we last saw Henry Cavill in the Kryptonian suit, and now Cavill is rumored to return for a cameo scene in the upcoming DCEU film Black Adam starring Dwayne Johnson. While Cavill’s return is undoubtedly a piece of news to be excited about, it takes away the attention from Black Adam. Notably, Black Adam is one of the greatest villains in the DC comics. At the same time, it diverts the story from the comics as Superman is not the original hero that fights Black Adam. Furthermore, only a cameo scene would not do justice to the much-anticipated return of Superman. A mere cameo would give Cavill’s Superman a brief focus rather than the celebrated affair it should be.

Cavill previously appeared as the Man of Steel in Zack Snyder‘s 2017 film Justice League. Apart from the 2013 film Man of Steel, Superman, one of the greatest DCEU superheroes, has not had a proper defining film. However, the future of Cavill as Superman in movies and in general remains uncertain.

What DC film should Superman make a comeback in?

Shazam! Fury of the Gods could be the perfect choice for Cavill to draw on his Kryptonian suit. One reason Cavill’s comeback in Shazam is apt as it will give the fans more hope for DCEU’s future films. In the trailer of Shazam 2, Billy Batson is in self-doubt about his relevance as a superhero which is something the Man of Steel could help him with. Moreover, it will also be the perfect way to pay tribute to the long shared comic book history between Billy Batson and Superman. However, another Man of Steel movie would not hurt either.
