Since Daniel Craig stepped down from the role of the iconic spy after 5 missions and several tuxedos, the search for the new 007 has gone on for some time now. From Idris Elba and Henry Cavill to Tom Hardy and Nicholas Hoult, the producers have considered various actors for the role. Of them all, Cavill was the most serious contender to replace Daniel Craig. However, as per the latest rumors, it seems like the chances of seeing Cavill as James Bond are slim.

Fans might not see Henry Cavill in the Bond tuxedo

Entertainment reporter Ross King recently revealed that a new parameter had been set on the ongoing 007 hunt. This new parameter has narrowed down the choices for the iconic spy character, including The Witcher’s very own Henry Cavill. The latest rumor – and in some ways part of this is very much true which is, basically, the Bond producers are looking for a younger Bond, someone probably in their thirties,” said King in his report.

This new requirement has also ruled out both Tom Hardy and Idris Elba from the equation. If the rumors about Bond in his thirties are true, the odds are likely to favor Bridgeton star, Regé-Jean Page. The news upset the fans as they were looking forward to seeing their favorite actors in the lead role. Although from an unbiased viewpoint, it makes sense, as casting an old actor for the lead role is short-sighted.

Second time is the charm?

Today, Henry Cavill, apart from Superman, is known for his physique and muscular appearance. Surprisingly, it is not the first time he got rejected for James Bond. After Pierce Brosnan’s last appearance as James Bond in Die Another Day, 21-year-old Cavill auditioned for the role in Casino Royale in 2004. The story behind his rejection is one for the books. Cavill revealed that Director Martin Campbell rejected him as his physique then was not suited for the role. He also advised him to work harder before he auditions for a similar role.

However, 18 years later, Henry Cavill is back for the 007 roles alongside Tom Hardy, Idris Elba, and Regé-Jean Page. Fans are highly eager to see Cavill play the role but are not pleased by the latest update on the hunt for the next Bond.
