“He expressed interest in coming back”- Ryan Reynolds Reveals How He Got Hugh Jackman to Unretire as Logan for ‘Deadpool 3’

When Ryan Reynolds introduced Deadpool for the first time in 2016, no one thought that a superhero with a potty mouth would become such a hit. But it did, and Ryan quickly became one of the biggest Hollywood superstars. After a sequel in 2018, fans have been waiting for the threequel to arrive for quite some time. 

So when the Canadian himself made the announcement that the threequel is in fact in the works, fans were delighted. But he had more surprises in store for his fans than the date announcement. Deadpool 3 was bringing back Hugh Jackman as Logan again! Mr. Funny sat down for a chat with Collider where he revealed how he got Jackman onboard.

Ryan Reynolds credits Kevin Feige and Fix for making it all work 

Ryan Reynolds first met Hugh Jackman when they starred together in X-Men Origins: Wolverine in 2008. However, the movie was criticized for making Deadpool mute in the flick. Of course, Ryan made sure to do justice to the Merch with a mouth in the 2016 feature.

Anyway, the actor always wanted to do another movie that would feature both the characters – Deadpool and Wolverine. He had taken the idea to Kevin Feige some four years back but unfortunately, it was not possible to sort things out then. Moreover, Hugh Jackman retired as Wolverine after Logan

However, things changed five years later. Jackman was ready to play the mutant again. He initiated the conversation and the Definitely Maybe star was of course sold. Without further delays, he pitched it to Kevin Feige, and well, everyone was on board!

“He (Hugh Jackman) expressed interest in coming back, and then it was my job to take that to Kevin Feige one more time and sell it,” explained Ryan. The Wrexham owner humbly refuses to take any credit for bringing Hugh out of Wolverine retirement. 

The offensive superhero will return to the screens on November 8, 2024. Meanwhile, the actor returns to a musical, Spirited. It’s playing in the theaters now, have you watched it?
