Owning one football team is not enough for Ryan Reynolds. The man is looking to buy yet another team, and this time he has his eyes locked on Ottawa Senators. One or the other way the actor may end up buying the team. His status and marketing tactics may as well help the team get more exposure.
So far his marketing campaigns have been extremely beneficial for Wrexham AFC which co-owns with Rob McElhenney. But will his Vancouver roots come in the way? Turns out that it is not the case.
Ryan Reynolds welcomed with thunderous applause at the Ottawa Senators’ game against Vancouver Canucks
The Deadpool star showed up at the Canadian Tire Centre for a match between the Ottawa Senators and the Vancouver Canucks. The VIP guest was welcomed with a standing ovation and applause on his entry to the premise. The applause is an indication that despite his Vancouver roots, Ottawa Senators are more than on board for the actor to buy the team!
The man had previously guested on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon where he expressed his wish to buy the team. The team went on sale on Nov 5 after the sudden demise of its long-time owner, Eugene Melynk. He bought the team in 2003 and died at the age of 62 due to certain health complications. His daughters, Anna and Olivia continue to oversee the activities of the team.
On the show, the actor explained to Fallon that he needs to enter a consortium to buy the team. The Hollywood superstar is a very wealthy man, however, the price tag of the team which is currently valued at $525 million is a little too steep for him. He needs to quickly find a partner with “really deep pockets” or else he would just end up buying a US senator. After receiving the title of Lord, Ryan Reynolds is hoping to add yet another feather to his hat.
Do you think he will do a good job as the owner of the hockey team?
