The seventh episode of Adult Swim, written by Jeff Loveness in season 4 of Rick and Morty, depicted face-hugging semelparous alien parasites named Glorzo. In the episode, we see the minds of Rick and Morty have been overpowered by these aliens, and they do not remember anything. This is similar to the 2012 prequel of Aliens Prometheus, an alien race that can take over others’ bodies as hostile parasites.

Also, we see that Rick is the scientist who explores interdimensional universes to find out new things, just like Idris Elba played the role of the captain of the spaceship. In Ridley Scott’s highly anticipated sci-fi drama, he ventures on a journey to explore the darkest parts of the universe and subsequently finds out about this hostile alien species. The creators of the show have drawn a very close reflection of Elva’s movie, whether it’s the characters or those mind-controlling aliens.

Moreover, there is another important reference many might have overlooked when Rick and Morty go back to save Summer. Surprisingly, they find out that she has been worshipped by Glorzo as some goddess. In that scene, Summer explained that due to a toothpick in her mouth, Facehuggers couldn’t latch her face, as she convinced them to control their constant reproduction.

This scene connected episode 7 to the 2012 movie Prometheus, as we saw that Shaw became pregnant with a squid-like creature. Therefore, the reference represented that these aliens are always active in reproduction and even use their hostile bodies for it. And some Redditors were quick to notice this reference.
