Ever since her debut with Ocean Eyes in 2015, fame and success have always followed Billie Eilish. With multiple Grammys and many other musical accolades to her name, the young singer has accomplished so much at the mere age of 20. One of her biggest achievements, though, was the James Bond theme song. However, if things went a little differently, it would have been the British singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran in her place.

Apparently, before Billie Elish and her brother snagged the Bond gig, Ed Sheeran was approached for the song in James Bond’s No Time to Die. The Photograph singer expressed his dismay for losing out on that chance of a lifetime.

Billie Eilish replaced Ed Sheeran for No Time to Die

The James Bond films are one of the most popular and well-loved film franchises in the world. It is a status symbol, and an absolute honor to be associated with those movies. However, it is a whole other thing to have the opportunity dangled in front of you only to be taken away. Sadly, that is exactly what happened to the Shape of You singer, Ed Sheeran.

Recently, the singer appeared on That Peter Crouch Podcast. When asked if he had ever written/sung a Bond song, it clearly hit a never for the English singer-songwriter.

I was within a fu*king gnat’s p*be of doing one,” responded the Afterglow artist.

He narrated how the film changed hands regarding its script, producers, and director. That is when the creators brought in the Bad Guy singer Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas.

Apparently, Sheeran had attended “all the meetings” with the film team and had even “started writing” the piece. Had he scored that gig, Ed would be part of an elite group with Sam Smith, Adele, and Madonna; all of whom have Bond themes in their roster.

I’m not gonna pretend it didn’t hurt not doing it,” illustrated the Thinking Out Loud singer.

Still, if the opportunity presented itself yet again, Sheeran admitted he would accept it in a heartbeat. With Daniel Craig’s stint as the elusive Agent 007, at its end, there is a lot of chatter about the “reinvention of Bond.” Perhaps, Ed Sheeran can still get his shot.
