David Letterman’s Netflix Original show is immensely popular for giving an honest perspective on the lives of huge celebrities. The show has given the audience in-depth and genuine conversations with Dave Chappelle, Robert Downey Jr., and even Kim Kardashian. All of these celebrities shared their most personal experiences on the show, thus elevating the show’s authenticity. And this year, Will Smith did the same in his interview with the legendary late show host.

In his first official appearance after the Oscar incident that many people saw and shared as memes. Will did not talk about the said incident as it was shot before it. However, the story and the lesson that Will shares on the show give us an insight into the life of the now Academy Award winner and the possible reason for his outbreak at the Oscars.

Will Smith shares a valuable lesson he learned through laughing

This year’s season of My Guest was one of the longest in the show’s history. The season started with a great and educational episode with Billie Eilish which was followed by the most awaited appearance, Will Smith.

The King Richard actor talked about a lot of things on the show, his life, his family, and his movies. But the most moving segment of the show was when he started discussing his 2019 memoir, Will.

Smith mentioned how in the very first line, he calls himself a coward. He then goes on to explain that the image of himself as a coward developed when Will used to see his father beat his mother, and he used to stand by just watching.

This incident, Smith explains, had a lot of influence on him growing up and became one of the reasons he picked up comedy. Smith says he clung to comedy as he learned, “I realized negativity can not exist inside of a human body when you’re laughing.”
