How William Zabka prepares for Johnny Lawrence in Cobra Kai
Preparing for a role is always a challenging task. Getting into the mentality of your character is of utmost importance for an actor. For example, Heath Ledger locked himself up in a hotel room to get into the psyche of the psychopathic Clown Prince of Gotham, The Joker.
Luckily, preparing for the hilarious Johnny Lawrence William Zabka takes a much less intense step but an appropriate one. In a recent interview while talking about the new season of the show Zabka discussed how plot twists are essential to the story. He then went on to add that the character he feels is like an early caveman and that’s why Zabka does not use his brain much while playing the bad boy turned good Johnny Lawrence.
The actor apparently puts “95% of my brain to sleep” to attain Johnny’s “caveman mentality.” But it is that and “the blind obsession is what’s funny about the character,” according to Zabka.
