Cobra Kai Prepares to Kick the Competition, Earns a Nomination for SAG Awards

It has hardly been a month since Cobra Kai Season 4 was released on Netflix. But it has already started bearing great fruits for the streaming giant; the fourth season of the Karate Kid spinoff has bagged a huge award nomination. On Wednesday, the Screen Actors Guild — American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) announced Cobra Kai’s nomination for the SAG award for Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble for a Television Series.

The Netflix Original will compete with the likes of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, Mare of Easttown, and Squid Game.

Karate is an integral part of Cobra Kai. Hence, it is obvious that performing all the stunts that are at a high level is something this series excels at. The major credit for the beautiful actions sequences we see primarily goes to the stunt performers. But we also cannot ignore the fact that the cast of the show proudly performs their stunts too. “We’re putting personality into the fighting, and we’re putting emotion into the fighting,” William Zabka aka Johnny Lawrence, said in a new featurette from Netflix, per Men’s Health. “And that makes it more authentic.

Season 4 of the show had some really amazing action sequences, including the prom pool fight, LaRusso home invasion, and, of course, the amazing fights at the All Valley Tournament. We just cannot ignore the amazing fight between Samantha and Tory that eventually decided the fate of their respective dojos. It was just phenomenal.

If I were a viewer, I would really want to see that, die to see it. But [for] me, as an actor, Tory and I just have so much fun with our little rivalry that we can’t imagine a world in which we would,Mouser told PopCulture.com when asked about the Tory and Sam rivalry. “But at the same time maybe I would like that for Samantha’s character development; and would hope that she could handle that and could gracefully tackle coming to terms with her boogeyman man being a more multidimensional human who also has a story that needs to be heard.
