Bridgerton spinoff is Queen Charlotte’s origin story
We know Queen Charlotte for her snuffing and chasing Lasy Whistledown. However, the Bridgerton spinoff will follow a young Queen Charlotte’s journey from romancing King George to taking control of the entire empire. We saw glimpses of her moment of tenderness for her husband in the show and we know she is an ardent believer in love, the prequel will reveal this side of her more. According to Golda, we will seeing the Queen’s backstory and what led her to the way she is in Bridgerton. However, despite being based on a real-life queen, the world of the new show will remain the same as the Regency Era series.

“We’re going to still be in the world of Bridgerton. We’re not moving away from the world that we know and love Queen Charlotte to be in. I think that’s really clever because it kind of keeps us on the same track.”
We will also follow the relationship between the trio: Violet Bridgerton, Queen Charlotte, and Lady Danbury. “These relationships are long-lived between Lady Danbury, Lady Bridgerton, and the Queen. That’s what the prequel is going to talk about,” disclosed, Adjoa.
Shonda Rhimes is penning the story and Tom Verica will direct and executive produce with Betsy Beers. The project is still in its nascent stage. There is no release date and no title yet, although it is speculated that the title is “Queen To Be“. However, Shondaland has already confirmed the cast. India Amerteifio will play the younger version of the titular character.
