Alfonso Herrera Got All Soft Before Killing The Newly Weds In Ozark Season 4, Here’s What He Said
We met many fresh faces in Ozark season 4 part 1. Among them, the one who seized the show and took it to an entirely different dynamic was the cold-blooded antagonist, Javier. Unpredictable in his ways; nephew and descendent of the bigwig, Omar Navarro, Javier Elizonndro was a highlight of season 4. Played by Alfonso Herrera, Javi shot dead the most beloved characters of Ozark. “Sorry…whoever you are,” he said before shooting them. Well, at least he was apologetic while killing them! Seemingly, Herrera teases something about the series finale.
Who exactly is Javi? What are his intentions?
Ozark tells the story of Marty Byrde, who moves to Ozarks after losing all their money to a prominent drug operation. Omar Navarro welcomes them with a warm hug and engages them in concealing money sources from the Navarro Cartel. Notably, Navarro was the major antagonist up to season 3 of this crime thriller.

However, the following season introduces us to his unpredictable nephew, Javi. He is a business enthusiast, ready to cross all the limits to prove himself and take over the business. “He doesn’t see his business as a family business, he wants to construct and consolidate something bigger and wider,” said Herrera, who plays the role, in an interview. Notably, the season finale sees him shooting the newlyweds Darlene and Wyatt. Although this incident leaves us on a heartbreaking cliffhanger, it’s not just the fans who are shattered.
Alfonso Herrera is heartbroken as well!
Talking to EW Herrera shared, he felt like giving a hug to his co-stars as a fan before acting out the script as the character. “When I read that, as a fan, I was in shock,” Alfonso Herrera tells EW. “But, as the actor playing Javi, I was very excited to see the arc of this character. That last scene, it’s very potent, it’s very explosive.” In the climax of the seventh episode, Javi took the fate of a competing drug dealer, Darlene, and Wyatt, into his own hands.
“That was hard, man, because when I arrived to set, it was the first time I was meeting them both,” he recalls talking to EW. “And I remember I just hugged them, and they said, ‘This is going to be tough,’ and I said, ‘I don’t know if I have to say this an honor, or I’m just sad, but it’s a complete pleasure to work with you and to be with you in this process.”
“They were very generous, and it was emotional when we finished. Not just for me, but for the whole cast and crew. They’ve been there since the beginning, so it was a very heartfelt goodbye from everyone to them,” adds Alfonso Herrera, referring to his co-stars Emery and Tahan.

Evident from the closing minutes of the season finale, Ruth is enraged with Wyatt’s death and will leave no chance to finish Javi. However, talking about the second half of Ozark’s last season, Herrera teases, “What’s going to happen afterwards, it’s going to be mind-blowing.” He further says, “If you think that Javi is someone that you cannot read and you do not expect how he’s going to react, what’s going to happen next is that times 20.” Seems like we are in for an epic one on one between Ruth and Javi.
Ozark season 4 part 2 will premiere later this year. Let us know in the comment section, what do you think will be the fate of Javier Elizonndro aka Alfonso Herrera in Ozark ?
