Shazam actor thinks that Ryan Reynolds should make Green Lantern again. Yes, the movie was perhaps one of the biggest failures of the actor’s career. It was his first attempt to want to star as a superhero in a movie. DC gave him the opportunity back in 2011 with a $200 million movie which failed both at the box office and amongst critics.

Of course, he then made up for it by giving Marvel one of their most successful movie series, Deadpool. Having proved himself through it, the chances of making a better Green Lantern could be a possibility. At least that is what Zachary Levi believes as he showed his confidence in Reynolds.

Ryan Reynolds changed the idea of a superhero by bringing a character like Deadpool who is smart, likable, and witty. He showed how a superhero does not need to be serious and buff. It almost led people to forget his Green Lantern failure with DC. While the world and Reynolds himself has no hope for Green Lantern, Zachary Levi of Shazam 2, which was released on 17th March, thinks otherwise.

Levi appeared on Jake’s Take recently, touching upon Green Lantern among several things. The interviewer asked him which actor would he like to see a return to the DC world. “I think it’d be fun!”, he said while naming Ryan Reynolds. He wants to see the actor return to Green Lantern again, believing he could do better this time around.

The actor added how Shazam and Green Lantern could add more fun to DC together. Although DC’s new head James Gunn clarified through a tweet that neither he nor Reynolds is keen to do this project again. DC themselves are going through a massive change in order to compete with Marvel. Although Shazam 2 has not helped them in this either.

Meanwhile, Marvel proved lucky for Ryan Reynolds as he was also allowed to take creative control.

How the Deadpool actor found success after failure with Green Lantern

Green Lantern barely made $220 million at the box office, despite a budget of $200 million. Deadpool on the other hand made a profit of $782.84 million for a budget of $58 million, while its sequel made $785.8 million for a budget of $110 million. Deadpool 3 is now set to release on 6 November 2024 with a green signal for Deadpool 4. It will be seen whether the actor makes a return to DC, perhaps through some other project.
