The most secretive family award in Hollywood goes to Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes. The couple barely makes any public appearances together and are pretty damn good at keeping their daughters away from the paparazzi. While the other Ryan is the complete opposite, Gosling likes to keep his home affairs private. The couple is incredibly tight-lipped about their family lives, so it is a surprise when one of them opens up about their home life. 

During Harper’s Bazaar in 2019, the Ghost Rider actress discussed her relationship with her husband and her kids during which she revealed the reason she decided to have kids with her long-term partner.

Eva Mendes was not ready to have kids until Ryan Gosling happened 

They met on the sets of The Place Beyond The Pines in 2011 and now share two daughters together, Esmeralda and Amada. Despite their 11-year relationship, the couple has only appeared once together in 2012 for the premiere of their film. Surprisingly, Mendes had never thought about having a family, but her world turned upside down when Gosling entered her life. After she fell in love with him, she was ready to have a family.

“Ryan Gosling happened. I mean, falling in love with him. Then it made sense for me to have … not kids, but his kids. It was very specific to him,” she had gushed. Ever since they became parents, they retreated away from the Hollywood spotlight to bring up their kids. It was important that the kids grew up away from the glare of the camera lenses because the whole concept of fame was “super scary”.

Mendes even kept her daughters in the dark about her profession. They just know her as Mom and not the Hollywood star that she is. However, the Hitch actress was super content being just a Mom. Fortunately, the couple was not alone and had help from family and friends in bringing up their beautiful daughters. 

While Eva has not acted in a long time, Gosling recently made a comeback in The Gray Man. He will once again grace the screens in Barbie next year. He is also currently shooting for another upcoming movie, The Fall Guy.
