The Spanish heist series quickly became a pop-cultural phenomenon when it premiered in 2017. The Álex Piña created series amassed a huge fan base upon its global release on Netflix. The heist show wasn’t just a usual heist show, there was drama, thrill, and heartbreak. The series came to an end after multiple seasons in 2020. But soon after a Korean remake was announced, Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area. The streamer has finally unveiled a teaser and a release date for the much-anticipated remake. 

The most intriguing element of the trailer is the mask. It’s not the same as the original.  What else has changed? Let’s find out. 

Will they rob the Korean mint?

If the series follows the original, the masked robbers will rob the Korean mint under the leadership of the Professor. But the name Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area can also refer to the Joint Security Area or the DMZ zone between North and South Korea. We’ll have to wait and see how things pan out until the series premiere on June 24. 

Another change we noticed is that the girl on the team isn’t wearing the overalls.

The Korean remake will have one less episode

The Spanish version had 13 episodes in its first season. But the remake is reportedly going to have 12 episodes. Each has a runtime of 1 hour. Moreover, Vancouver Media will not produce the remake. Instead, BH Entertainment and Content Zium will jointly produce the series. Korean director, Kim Hong Sun will direct the remake.
