The Witcher season 2 is unfortunately not going to be on the popular streaming platform Netflix in the following month.
The Witcher is a Netflix Original action-adventure series that is based on the novels of the same name by Andrzej Sapkowski. The video game adaptations of the books made The Witcher highly popular, and it paved the way for a TV adaptation as well. Fortunately, Netflix took on the responsibility to adapt The Witcher into a series, and it turned out to be a huge success. Both the viewers and the critics adore The Witcher right now.
The first season of The Witcher debuted on Netflix in December 2019. Despite having an extreme hype around it, the series managed to live up to the expectations. Therefore, fans have been waiting for the second season of the series. The production process was bumpy given Henry Cavill’s injury and the pandemic. Nevertheless, they finally finished the production process of The Witcher season 2 roughly two months ago. We know it won’t be released this July, but when are we going to see The Witcher season 2 on Netflix?
What is the release date of The Witcher season 2?
While announcing that they finished the production process for the second season, The Witcher crew let us know that the next season would be on Netflix by the end of 2021. After that, Netflix gave us a more narrow release date. Thanks to Netflix’s co-CEO and chief content officer Ted Sarandos, we know The Witcher season 2 is going to debut in Q4 2021.
There’s nothing narrower than that, though. If Netflix hurries up with the post-production process, we can see an October 2021 release. November 2021 is on the table too, as they would need some time to promote the season. December 2021 is an option too, but let’s hope they won’t make us wait until then.
Is there a trailer for The Witcher season 2?
Unfortunately not. We do not have an official trailer on our hands yet, though it’s highly likely to drop the next month. That’s because Netflix is going to hold a convention called Witchercon with the games’ creator CD Projekt Red. We expect to see some exclusive first-looks of The Witcher works in that event.
While waiting for the official trailer that will probably announce the release date, you can check out the latest teaser of The Witcher season 2. They shared this video in the scope of the Netflix Geeked Week event, in which Netflix showed us a bunch of geek content.

What to expect from The Witcher season 2?
If you’re curious about what to expect from the next season of The Witcher, the answer is obvious: more Ciri. It seems the crew is going to focus on how Ciri will train and grow up with Geralt. The teaser is a shred of good evidence for this, too.
The showrunner Lauren Hissrich had some words to utter about season 2 as well. They’re working on things that are “beyond comprehension” in terms of size and scope. Here’s what she had to say about it.
“The truth is, by the time the show launched in December of 2019, we were already immersed in Season 2. But in terms of the production, the renewal gave everyone permission to take a lot more chances, bigger gambles. It just gives everyone that sense of confidence they need to find new levels. Some of the things we’re working on right now are just beyond comprehension in terms of size and scope. I could not be more excited.”
