The Perseverance of the Ukrainians in ‘Winter on Fire’ is Now Streaming on Netflix YouTube – Here’s Why You Must Watch the Documentary
In 2014, Ukraine was going through a challenging period in the country’s history. This moment defined the country’s resilience and tolerance towards oppression. A year after the revolt, Netflix released its documentary Winter on Fire, which followed the Revolution to its entirety. Moreover, it showed how in just 93 days, the rebellion transformed into a series of violence and destruction.
History of the Revolt
The student revolt of Ukraine is known as the Revolution of Dignity. This peaceful protest took a turn for the work in just 93 days. When a clash between Berkut (special riot police) and the protestors resulted in several deaths. The Revolution is also known as the Maidan Revolution.

The protest was against President Viktor Yanukovych‘s government. President Viktor was refusing to sign a political association and free trade agreement with the European Union (EU). Instead, he was aligning with Russia and the Eurasian Economic Union and going against the popular opinion of the Ukrainian government that wanted to have an agreement with the EU.
Winter on Fire Netflix makes streaming available for free
Netflix is a subscription-based streaming platform. Therefore, most of its content is not available on any other OTT platform or on the internet.
So in a tweet from its official handle, Netflix has announced that they have made the documentary Winter on Fire about the 2014 revolt available on YouTube for free streaming.

The documentary packs a runtime of 1 hour and 40 minutes. Evgeny Afineevsky directs the film that explores police brutality violation of human rights.
In collaboration with Netflix, Ukraine, the United States, and the United Kingdom produced the film. Following its release, critics highly praised the film. Later, it also bagged an Academy Award nomination under the Best Documentary category.
The documentary shows us a hard reality that the people of Ukraine persevered through. Even the crew of the film had a hard time filming the movie due to the harsh circumstances.
