Gillian Anderson, the award-winning actress is a familiar face on television, starring in Netflix’s Sex Education and The Crown. In the recent update, she has entered a deal with the streamer to develop a series in the next two years. Netflix announced the news on their Twitter handle. 

Her production company, Fiddlehead Productions have not released any details of the shows yet. 

“Netflix have been an inspiring and supportive home for much of my recent acting work so I am excited to partner with them for the television projects I am currently developing. We have a shared passion for progressive, compelling and engaging stories and I’m thrilled to announce our collaboration,” she told Variety. 

Anne Mensah, the V.P of the U.K series at Netflix later expressed their delight to be working with the actress.

“We feel very privileged to be working closely with Gillian on new projects. Her success at Netflix – from ‘Sex Education’ to her singular portrayal of Margaret Thatcher in ‘The Crown’ – is second to none and we look forward to launching shows with her as an actress and executive producer.”

Gillian Anderson produced Jamie Dornan starrer The Fall

The actress has already tried her hands at producing and has been pretty successful with The Fall series. It was a British crime thriller and starred Jamie Dornan and herself in the leading roles. Apart from producing she’s a distinguished actress having starred in the cult series X Files. The actress transformed herself to essay Margarett Thatcher, former British Prime Minister on Netflix’s acclaimed series The Crown. She bagged an Emmy, SAG, Critics Choice, and Golden Globe for her role in the royal series. 

She plays Dr. Jean Milburn in another British teen comedy on Netflix –  Sex Education. She will reprise her role in the series when the series returns for its fourth season. Besides being a mainstay on Netflix, she also had a pretty great run on Hulu’s The Great. She played a mother to Elle Fanning in the period drama. Next, Gillian Anderson is going to have a turn in another historical series, The First Lady on Showtime.
