Kanye West was once Obama’s favorite rapper. The rapper is perhaps one of the few artists who is criticized with the same intensity as he is loved. However, that does not stop the artist in him from creating more controversies, especially in the last few weeks. Yet, his fame has not subsided between any of this, as he continues making appearances.
Now, rappers are known for dissing other rappers and celebrities through their songs, but West is known for practicing it in real life as well. In the shocking interview with Fox News, the artist popped up former President Obama’s name. This is what the Gold Digger singer said above the politician.
Kanye West on his equation with Obama
Kanye West once shared a good relationship with the 44th President of America, Barack Obama. During an interview with Fox News host Tucker Carlson, the actor barred it all: “Obama met with me and my mama to say that he was running for office back in 2008 and he wanted the support.” The artist claimed that he was once Obama’s favorite artist. West felt that the idea of a black President was ‘in’ with the masses, so it would make people feel that they have passed through the lines of actual racism.
He also put himself, Obama, and his late friend Virgil Abloh together to convey how they were the top prominent black men around the world. In fact, as per West, the former POTUS told him, “In some place, we’d have to be friends and get along.” Obama supposedly compared the rapper to Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton. But that was the connection the artist and the politician had. However, he also added that the same connection ended when he stopped saying what he was supposed to say.
Despite this, the Flashing Lights singer agreed that he would still approach Obama if they ever come across each other again. Obama has not commented on the rapper’s opinions publicly yet even though the two share visibly opposite opinions.
