Cinema around the world has always been obsessed with Nordic epics. It will be an amazing year with the new Viking spin-off Vikings: Valhalla. The Vikings‘ high fan following and success compelled Netflix to announce the spin-off in 2021. And now, with the trailer and release date here, we can’t be more excited.
Vikings: Valhalla premise and cast
The much-awaited spinoff sets after a hundred years of the original series by Michael Hirst. The show is a new adventure that immerses action with historical authenticity.

Set in the early 11th Century, Vikings: Valhalla tells the story and rise of some of the most famous Vikings ever to live, Leif Eriksson, his fearless sister Freydis Eriksdotter, and the highly ambitious prince Harald Sigurdsson.
The show has the Viking in a bloody conflict with the English over their Christian and pagan belief. Their friction has reached a boiling point that will follow the story of three Vikings across oceans and wars. Their journey will take them from Kattegat to England and beyond.
The show stars Sam Corlett as Leif Eriksson, Frida Gustavsson as Freydis Eriksdotter, and Leo Suter as Harald Sigurdsson. Other cast members include Caroline Henderson as Jark Haakon and Bradley Freegard as King Canute.
The show follows the rise of legendary warriors Leif Eriksson, Freydis Eriksdotter, and Harald Sigurdsson.
Netflix dropped the trailer
We knew Vikings: Valhalla was coming to Netflix this year when the streaming giant released pictures in December 2021, giving us the inside look. Later, we also got a teaser, followed by another in January. All of this has made Vikings fans impatient for the spinoff’s release.
Now, Netflix has finally dropped the trailer for the new show, and we are all for the epic showdown for the North.

Vikings: Valhalla release date
The immense fan following of the original show has put the spin-off already on the road to success. The trailer has 10k likes on YouTube in the initial 24 hours of its release. Now with the release date of 25 February, we will have to wait and see what they have to say about the new adventures of the Vikings.
In a recent interview with Polygon, Jeb Stuart, creator of the show, expressed what his aim was with the new show.

“My goal would be, at the very end, that you suddenly look back on this incredible period of time of both shows and say, ‘Wow, it was really good when they were just killing those Saxons. I miss the purity of that moment,’” said showrunner Jeb Stuart.
