“Netflix is glorifying a sociopath, narcissistic, proven criminal who is wrong,” says Rachel Willaims for ‘Inventing Anna’

“Netflix is glorifying a sociopath, narcissistic, proven criminal who is wrong,” says Rachel Willaims for ‘Inventing Anna’

The creation of ShondaLand, Inventing Anna, highlights the facade that people seem to wear. The people we see on social media have an amazing life but sometimes, in reality, they are just broke with rich fame. Inventing Anna explores the life of a con woman, Anna Delvey aka Anna Sorokin aka Fake German Heiress, who scammed some of the rich societies of New York City, including hotels, restaurants, and banks, from 2015 to 2017.

However, Anna Delvey’s former friend Rachel DeLoache Williams, who was also a victim in the con, is bashing Netflix and claiming the platform is “running a con woman’s PR.” Let’s find more about Williams’ thoughts on the show.

Rachel Willaims and Inventing Anna

Rachel Williams is a former friend of Anna Delvey, who happens to be a part of the inner circle. She has noted down her experience in the book My Friend Anna. Anna once left her with a $62,000 bill when they went for an all-paid trip to Marrakesh, Morrocco. At the end of the trip, Anna claimed that her credit card was not working, and Williams has to pay the bill.

The bill ended up costing her a lot more than Williams made in a year at the time. The bill included flights, expensive meals, shopping, expenses of the lavish villa they were staying in. Given the way she was conned, it is no surprise Williams is not a fan of Inventing Anna. Even though she hasn’t streamed through the entire show, Williams feels Netflix is glorifying a con artist, Anna.

According to Vanity Fair, Netflix has paid $320,000 to Anna Delvey for her life rights. She hired a private attorney for her case with that money. In conversation with Vanity Fair, Rachel explains Netflix is celebrating a sociopathic, narcissistic, proven criminal who is wrong. “Having had a front-row seat to [the Anna circus] for far too long, I’ve studied the way a con works more than anybody needs to. You watch the spectacle, but you’re not paying attention to what’s being marketed,” she said.

She is concerned about the disclaimer that Netflix gave at the start of the show, which says, “This story is completely true, except for all the parts that aren’t”. For Rachel, exploring half-truth content is more dangerous than a lie.

I watched Inventing Anna and I agree Shonda Rhimes’ Neflix mini-series does, at times, want the viewer to feel sorry for Anna. I believe Anna is a delusional sociopath. Shonda viewed her as a young woman coming up against the boys club of New York. Anna Delvy is no different than Bernie Madoff. She defrauded people, and ultimately, was convicted. I don’t believe her prison term was nearly enough, and I’m sorry Rachel did not win her case. If you’ve ever come up against a sociopath, you know how convincing they can be. Its unbelievable that Jessica Pressler ended up in Anna’s corner, concerned for her welfare. Pressler got sucked into Anna’s fantasy world. She got conned too. I hope Delvy is deported to Germany. Otherwise, she’ll probably turn her “fame” into that of an influencer and fashion icon. She should be admired by no one. America has enough influencers. Deport Anna ASAP.

I believe that Anna is sociopath and NPD and for sure are manipulative liar. Netflix make lately shit series unfortunetly – HBO will be a way better option to this story – it can be complex stadium of narcissist personality disorder. and big aware for this And that its Netflix try to put there racial problem and feminism – sorry Netflix this story is about horrible person. This one girl who believe her till the end it was just her flying monkey typical narcissist played. Really Anna its classic narcissist person from. I don’t know if people from Netflix don’t know or don’t read psychology but its nothing misery there or unknown ? This is typical narcissist who like status and use, scam people for it . About -Rachel – its normal that this women had trauma – and its goos that she was the first to want talking about this scam. If people will be more open about scamers and abusers – world will be better place.

Netflix is incredibly irresponsible for promoting the psychopath Anna S. Not to mention enabling the victim blaming of Rachel Williams.

Why the F were the characters rooting for AS in the show. Is that one of the things that “aren’t true”?

    Netflix stop promoting a psychopath.

Though it was a catching, funny, and entertaining show, due to the reality, it was a horrible idea. Anna has always wanted money and fame more than anything else. Netflix directly appeased both of these to reward her for going against the law. This is why our culture has so much destruction. Because it rewards the bad and hates those who are true victims or try to do what’s right.

I have to say, I don’t feel like this “glorifies” sociopaths or narcissism at all…it is doing what I wish would we all have been made aware of years and years ago. As someone with an estranged extremely intelligent diagnosed narcissistic sibling…I hope that this gets peoples minds spinning. We all have narcissistic traits in some way of all different levels but when someone is a true diagnosed narcissist, they are a part of what psychiatrists call “cluster b personality disorders.” To put that into perspective, psychopaths are also in that category. It is fascinating how their minds work with absolutely NO empathy and so calculated and manipulative. While what we have gone through and continue to go through with my family member, research, studying, and learning was necessary and made us as equipped to maneuver our way through the relationship that is dangerous and abusive. Short story long, as someone who can relate and see these traits quickly now after my experiences and studies, this is doing what I truly hope and its ironic coming at a time where Putin is being fully highlighted and shares the exact same yet far more dangerous narcissistic and sociopathic tendencies on full display. Open our eyes to the disorders and start talking, asking, researching. Knowledge is power and until handled correctly, narcissists continue to desire the need for attention and control more and more and it gets more intense as time goes on, like a drug addiction. As awful as it is, the more its discussed and brought out to the table regardless of the context, allows for discussion and that’s the start of defense against this traumatizing and realistically unbeatable disorder.
