All the 80s born watching the show must’ve easily recognized the iconic bangs that Chrissy has. However, for those who haven’t watched the iconic film that inspires Chrissy’s hairstyle, here is the real inspiration behind Chrissy Cunningham.

The specialty of Stranger Things has been its inspiration from the 80s. Since the first season of the show, you can always point out movie references such as Jaw, Alien, and even The Exorcist. These inspirations, however, could only be seen in terms of visuals and tones.
But in the fourth record-breaking season, we get to see a whole character’s hairstyle getting inspiration from another iconic character. For Chrissy Cunningham‘s bangs, the hair and costume department referred to the inanely popular 1974 film Grease.

The famous cheerleader bangs were first seen on Olivia Newton-John’s Sandy. In the original film, Sandy wears the iconic look with bangs for the most part of the film until the very end. And Chrissy, too, has bangs, at least until Vecna kills her.
Who is Grace Van Dien?

Grace grew up on set as the daughter of Casper Van Dien, who starred in Starship Troopers and All American, and Carrie Mitchum, who starred in The Bold and the Beautiful.
Van Dien began her acting career in a family picture called Army Dog, in which she co-starred with her father.

She is most recognized for her roles in Hulu’s original feature The Binge, NBC’s drama The Village, and Netflix’s adolescent drama Greenhouse Academy. She has also acted in a school mystery drama, having played Brooke, the dean’s daughter, in Greenhouse.
