Love, Death + Robots season 3 premiered this year in May with 9 episodes. While all the shorts were outstanding, it was the final act Jibaro that took the cake. Previously, Netflix’s Love, Death + Robots was nominated for an Emmy. Now the Academy has announced the winners in jury categories and Alberto Mielgo has won the award in the Outstanding Individual Achievement in the Animation category for his work Love Death Robots (Jibaro). The Oscar winner has indeed added another feather to his cap.

Alberto returned to the series once again with a riveting story of lust and greed, Jibaro in Love, Death + Robots season 3. Right from the visuals to the sound editing, the animation, and the storytelling, everything was intoxicating. His 72-member team worked on days end to bring such striking 3D animations to life. Fans and critics alike lauded the story and artwork which was both beautiful and unsettling at the same time. So this win feels like he rightly deserved it.

His second outing with Netflix is a toxic tale between two predators that are drawn to each other for all the wrong reasons and things get bloody quickly. A knight suddenly wakes up to a mysterious siren after he finds gold in the river bed. This causes the siren to come after him and his fellow knights. She seduces the knights with her seductive moves and gold-adorned body. And as they draw closer, she kills them with her deadly voice. However, the knight in question remains unaffected because he’s deaf. The siren grows fascinated with him, while he gets attracted to the gold and jewels on her body.

He had explained, “Not everything has to be about a guy that is saving the world or who has a nice hero’s journey, where you can see how he’s evolving into a better version of himself. In this case, there is no improvement. Actually, it’s the opposite. They both end up being the worst versions of themselves.”
