Netflix has landed itself in yet another controversy with the release of Luckiest Girl Alive. The streamer is facing backlash for its lack of warning about the triggering scenes in the movie. The new Mila Kunis movie is based on the popular Jessica Knoll novel of the same name.

It follows Ani Fanelli, a successful journalist in New York who appears to have everything in life – a perfect fiance and a great career. However, she is hiding past demons. When a documentarian shows up and probes into her life and her past things start to unravel for her and the people around her. 

Fans call out Netflix for not doing a proper job with the warnings on Luckiest Girl Alive 

Fans who have tuned in to watch the 18 certified Luckiest Girl Alive on Netflix, think the platform has done a poor job of warning viewers. Netflix does offer a warning of sexual violence and threat on top, at the beginning but it still is not enough. It is almost blinking and you miss it. The real scenes are way more brutal and triggering. 

The Netflix movie contains graphic sexual violence, bullying, and a brutal high school shooting. The streamer marketed the movie as a #girlboss thriller, when in fact it was anything but. Viewers have taken to Twitter to issue warnings.

Those who have read the book before knew what was going to happen, but for the ones who went in blind it was a bit of a shock.  This is, apparently, not the first time that the streaming platform has landed in such trouble for no proper warning signs. It was criticized when All The Bright Places was released and it also got a lot of flak when it premiered Thirteen Reasons Why. The movie stars Mila Kunis, Connie Britton, Scoot McNairy, and Finn Wittrock.
