The Witcher Season 2 is finally here, and it is literally the most amazing thing that has happened this year. The characters that we fell in love with 2 years ago are finally back and are looking as beautiful as ever. But there is one thing that we can’t help but notice about one character in the Netflix series; Ciri looks a little different in season 2 of The Witcher.
While Henry Cavill and Anya Chalotra look almost the same as the previous season, fans noticed substantial changes in the appearance of Ciri in season 2. But why did it happen?
Is Ciri the same actress in The Witcher Season 2?
The first answer that may come to anyone’s mind would be that maybe they recast the actress. Is it the case with Princess Cirilla of Cintra? The answer is no. Ever since season 1 of The Witcher, Freya Allan has essayed the role of the swallow. She will play the role for a long time, as it has been really amazing to see her performance as the Lion Cub of Cintra. It almost feels as if Freya was born to play this role, just like Henry Cavill was born to play the role of Ciri’s father figure, Geralt of Rivia.
Why does Cirilla look different in Season 2?
There is no denying the fact that Ciri looks different in Season 2 of The Witcher. One simple reason for this dissimilarity in Ciri’s physical appearance in season 2 is COVID.

The first shoots for the series were scheduled for February 2020. At that time, Freya was an 18-year-old kid. However, due to the global pandemic, the shoot went on till March 2021. By that time, Freya was just 5 months away from her 20th birthday. Hence, the changes you see in her appearance are nothing but the natural growth and changes that a human body goes through.
Allan is not the first actress/actor to go through such a difficulty, and neither will she be the last. Netflix itself is not alien to this problem; as we have witnessed the cast of Stranger Things age dramatically between seasons.
What is up with Ciri and her eyebrows?
The one striking change that everyone watching The Witcher Season 2 notices is Ciri’s new eyebrows. While for the entire first season we saw Freya Allan donning bleached eyebrows, the new season marks the end of those eyebrows. So how exactly this change of color came through? Allan revealed the entire story while talking to Collider. She said, “I was the one who said, ‘I’m so sorry, but if we are’ — which hopefully we will — ‘get to do many more seasons, I am not going to have any eyebrows left if they are bleached every day of The Witcher. They won’t be there anymore. And also it requires you spending however many months walking around in the streets looking like you are off Mars.”

She continued, “genuinely had people stop me when I had the bleached eyebrows being like, ‘Where are you from,’ and they were so curious because I literally looked like a little alien wondering around. It was my choice. I said, ‘I think we’re done with the bleached eyebrows. I think that was a bad idea.’ So yeah, ditched the eyebrows. I mean, just got my own usual eyebrows back!”
However, The Witcher Season 2 is so captivating, you will look past the changes in the appearance of Ciri and be fully engrossed in the story.

December 20, 2021 at 4:54 amIt is the funniest thing, I just got done watching episode 4 of the new season. And I was wondering this exact question, why does ciri look different. When I happened across this article. In my opinion, when you wait so long for something, whether it be a certain game or a movie, rarely in my case does it live up to the expectations that I had for it. That is 100 percent not the case for Witcher season 2. It has been outstanding on every level. And anybody out there who hasn’t started watching this, is really missing out. I tend to be a rough critic on most things, but for this show, I got to give it up to netflix. They really went over and above.

December 20, 2021 at 3:59 pmI noticed the difference too. I’m glad it’s just adulthood changes and not change of cast.
However, it’s fun to also noticed that but Ciri and Yen are both half elven. What this will turn how to mean is worth waiting for. Overall, great second season. Going for my second viewing already.

December 23, 2021 at 1:02 amThis is literally a discussion board on the actress’ appearance, not a means to spoil a whole season. Way to ruin shit, hope someone spoils season 3 for you

December 22, 2021 at 7:29 amI noticed immediately… and now I am here. I myself have eyebrows similar, but I wouldn’t call her an alien. I understand why she doesn’t wish to bleach them, but I lost track of the story starring at her eyebrows and asking “why??” With the makeup and eyebrows I almost thought she was recast, but her nose was the same so I knew it was her, just growing up n’ stuff 😛 great actress.

December 22, 2021 at 7:39 pmAs a Series, its very good and well made. But as a Witcher Fan, I hate it. I love the Books, and the changed so much of it… unnessesary. You could say its no longer witcher… The Characters act so different and the storyline is very different to. Its like witcher from another universe. Maybe only 10% are frome the boots. Normaly Luke lord of the rings its 80%

December 23, 2021 at 1:04 pmIt wasn’t the eyebrows I found overwhelming. It was the black mascara, and bright pink lipstick. Even her speech is alarmingly more confident.
Dissapointed
January 11, 2022 at 6:40 amIt’s not growing up….. it’s lips injections first of all, and they shoud go on with the white eyebrows for the sake of the role because she’s not playing for free right? I’m just tired of this fake girls ( espacially from one country) who do their injections and surgeries as soon as they can afford it….. it’s so hard to look at this copies, Freya is going in that direction unfortunately 🙁
