1899 will follow the journey of a migrant steamship, filled with people from various backgrounds, colors, and races, all united by the idea of making a new life, heading west to New York from their old continent London. On the surface level, the new series would seem like a simple tale of the journey, but 1899 is much more twisted. The passengers discover another immigrant ship on their journey, and what they find aboard changes their destiny in the most abrupt manner.
Expected to release in 2021, 1899 had to go through various delays. Although there is no precise release date, the series will most likely hit the screens in November 2022. However, the series is all set to premiere at the 47th Toronto International Film Festival in September, confirmed director Baran bo Odar.
