Meghan Markle dazzled in a pure white boat-neck dress during her historic royal wedding with the Duke of Sussex Prince Harry. The ensemble was iconic in its own way and it surely will go down as one of the best wedding gowns in royal history. Meghan’s veil made a statement as she embroidered it with flowers representing the Commonwealth countries. There was also the wintersweet flower that signified the Kensington Palace, while the California poppy paid homage to her home in California.

Interestingly, the dress designed by Clare Waight Keller was made by a whopping 50 people in 3900 hours. While the world was all praises of Meghan Markle’s wedding dress, Queen Elizabeth II did not approve of it. The late monarch had her own reservations about the dress.

“The Queen was surprised that Meghan wore pure white on her wedding day. Perhaps it’s a generational thing, but she believes if you’ve been married before, you wear off-white on your wedding day,” Katie Nicholl has mentioned in her book The New Royals as quoted by The Daily Mail.

The couple had known each other for seven years before they finally decided to take the plunge in 2011. However, their marriage could not survive for long and they ended up calling it quits in August 2013.

Meanwhile, there were also a lot of tensions in the royal family leading to the wedding. It is reported that the Duke of Sussex had a tiff with Queen’s dresser Angela Kelly as she was unavailable during Meghan’s dress rehearsal and that prevented the former actress from getting the tiara.
