For those unfamiliar with animes, Violet Evergarden is a 13 episode anime that is nothing short of one of the most heartfelt animes out here.
Violet Evergarden is the story of a nameless girl who was abandoned on an island and found years later by Dietfried Bougainvillea. Bougainvillea is a navy officer who later “gifts” her as a “tool” to his brother Gilbert.
Surprisingly, Gilbert treats her as a human. He teaches her how to speak, read, write, and gives her the beautiful name “Violet”. Violet plays an essential role in battles and loses both her arms in an attempt to save Gilbert. The two were torn apart at the end of the series.
Violet Evergarden: The Movie is about Violet’s quest to find Gilbert.
Other Spin-Offs
Violet Evergarden was received with positive critical reception, being awarded Best Animation at the 2019 Crunchyroll Anime Awards. The series was adapted from a manga, which in turn was adapted from a novel.
After gaining popularity with the anime, the creators of Violet Evergarden decided to produce an original video animation episode in 2018.
Subsequently, a spin off-film premiered in 2019. The second anime film Violet Evergarden: The Movie was released in September 2020 and will be on Netflix this October!
Violet Evergarden and all related media like the manga, the novel, and the films were produced and distributed by Kyoto Animation. The production house has been praised for the quality of its releases.
