Neil Patrick Harris in Doctor Who
Despite being the longest-running sci-fi program ever, Doctor Who has just lately begun portraying the Time Lord as someone other than a heterosexual white guy. It’s been a while since we’ve seen any trans characters on the program. Doctor Who has always had a large LGBTQ+ following, and we are happy that returning showrunner Russell T. Davies seems to be capable of giving us the delightfully queer sci-fi epic that homosexuals want.
“I got to meet and interact with him a bit and he’s glorious,” Harris says of Gatwa. “He’ll be the first gay Doctor, which is going to be super cool, a sexier Doctor.”, Neil said in an interview with Variety.

It’s possible that Gatwa’s Doctor is gay if Neil Patrick Harris, who worked on the 60th-anniversary specials, isn’t just guessing. As Eric Effiong on Sex Education, Gatwa has previously portrayed him as a homosexual. Harris is said to be taking on the part of The Toymaker. It is played by Michael Gough in the original Doctor Who series.
While the specifics of Neil Patrick Harris’ part in the film are yet to be revealed, he released a photo of himself in character, complete with a leather apron, glasses, a curly wig, and a scowl. While discussing his part, Harris remarked, “I’ll do my hardest to do my worst.”
