Meanwhile, Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) was manipulating events behind the scenes to pit the two heroes against each other.

The movie was a dark and brooding take on the DC Comics characters, with director Zack Snyder’s signature visual style. The performances were strong, particularly Affleck’s portrayal of a jaded and weary Batman. However, the film was weighed down by a convoluted plot and too many characters, including Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) and Aquaman (Jason Momoa), who were introduced in brief cameos.
