We are once again getting blessed with a Rian Johnson and Daniel Craig collaboration in an obviously mystery setting. Netflix show Glass Onion will soon be released. It is cooked up with a perfect mystery plot, intriguing characters, and everyone’s favorite Benoit Blanc. However, this time Rian Johnson is taking us far from the quiet snowy mansion of Harlan Thrombley to a yacht on a sunny beach island.
Contrary to the 2019 movie Knives Out, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery will be faster, more vibrant, and will have your attention by a chokehold. Doing what he does best, Rian Johnson has incorporated his trademark whodunit schemes in this movie as well. However, it is only a part of the grand scheme in the Netflix show Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. Speaking to John DiLillo, Johnson talks about his magical ingredient when it comes to making blockbuster mysteries.

Rian Johnson on what makes the Netflix series Glass Onion special
It won’t be a far fetch to call the writer and director of Netflix Glass Onion, the Agatha Christie of movies, given that a lot of what he does is inspired by her work. While making whodunnits, Johnson says that there needs to be a proper buildup and more creative ways to get down to the part where the audience starts questioning every single character.

He praised Agatha Christie as always and related to Benoit Blanc, his own genius invention. “The phrase I kept coming back to is that It’s a roller coaster and not a crossword puzzle,” shared Rian Johnson, which is what makes his movies a magical mystery blockbuster according. Instead of just trying to create a crossword puzzle, the Glass Onion director sharply pointed out that there was a need for characters that the audience relates to or is at least rooting for.
Johnson felt that this was an element that most whodunnit movies miss out on. Furthermore, the director has roped in megastars such as Daniel Craig, Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Jessica, Henwick, Madelyn Cline, Kate Hudson, and Dave Bautista to star in his whodunnit masterpiece. Moreover, the movie will be premiering in select theatres before its global release on Netflix on the 23rd of December.
