The Dream Has Finally Ended? ‘The Sandman’ Is Defeated for the Top Spot by THIS New Netflix Drama
Ever since the official announcement, The Sandman has been the most anticipated show to come along in a while. With its ultimate premiere and superlative quality, the show exceeded all expectations, which were ridiculously high, to begin with. The love and appreciation from fans and critics alike steadily made it the most popular show on Netflix. So much so that for weeks it remained at the number one position in 69 countries and in the top 10 in several more. However, as they say, what goes up must eventually come down.
Echoes, a new mystery show in the Netflix catalog, has managed to knock the high and mighty The Sandman off its position. An all-and-out drama with some fascinating twists and turns to keep you hooked; this latest thriller miniseries is the new talk of the town. Mission: Impossible star Michelle Monaghan embodies the roles of identical twins Gina and Leni. While the show uses the classic twin trope of Prestige-style life swapping, things take a dark turn when one of them goes missing.

While Rotten Tomatoes was less than generous with its low rating of 29%, other channels made their appreciation known. Variety illustrated the show as “twisty but repetitive, making sure every plot point gets several scenes to marinate.” The media house also praises Monaghan as she “throws herself into the challenge of portraying twins with the delirious freedom that the show’s hyperbolic framework allows.”

In fact, according to FlixPatrol, The Sandman and Echoes are neck and neck when it comes to global ranking. With both the shows flaunting a score of 670, the competition for the top spot won’t be an easy one.
