Maya Hawke, the star of Stranger Things has taken a break from her Upside Down adventures to guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The actress shot to fame after she debuted in the third season of the Duffer brothers’ show. She has since then become a part of Hawkin’s gang. Apart from diving into Watergate and constantly worrying about her crush, the actress has also taken offense to the Supreme Court’s recent ruling. 

Maya Hawke emphasized having access to “safe and legal health care” 

The Supreme Court’s recent ruling that overturned 1973’s Roe v. Wade which legalized abortion nationwide has attracted huge criticism from the public and celebs alike. Maya Hawke is just one of the many celebrities who has shared her discontent with the Court’s decision.

According to ot Hawke, “Of course, wealthy people will always be able to get abortions, but so many people, because of this ruling this week, will not only not be able to pursue their dreams, but actually lose their lives and be unsafe. And I just wanted to say that, like, f*** the Supreme Court.”

Furthermore, she brought up her mom, Uma Thurman’s essay where she revealed her own personal experience of getting an abortion. The Pulp Fiction actress penned the essay when Texas was beginning to restrict access to contraceptives and abortions. Apparently, Uma had an abortion in her late teens in Germany. The actress had gotten herself pregnant on a film set and didn’t want to continue the pregnancy.

Being a motormouth benefitted the young actress on Stranger Things 

As a self-described Phoebe Buffay on Adderall, Hawke has a tendency to talk extremely fast especially when she’s nervous. The Robin actor revealed that the Duffer brother gave her long monologues hoping she could deliver them in under 2 minutes. Due to the pandemic-induced hiatus and the long gap between shooting to production, the actress cannot exactly recall things from the set.
