‘Squid Game’ Star HoYeon Jung Bags a Role in the New A24 Film ’The Governesses’ From Director Joe Talbot
It seems like everything is going HoYeon Jung’s way. After her break, our role in Netflix’s hit series Squid Games. Jung has only been receiving praises and accolades for her role in the show and nothing else. Recently, the actress also starred in the music video of The Weekend’s latest single, Out of Time.
But it looks like her work and talent is getting recognition by the Hollywood industry as well, as she bags another role in a major production.
From Squid Games to The Governesses

HoYeon has been cast in a new film by the critically acclaimed production house A24: The Governesses. They film follows three rebellious governesses who upend the home they work in by inspiring the boys in their care. Based on the novel written by Anne Serre, the film will be shot in Spain.
Starring alongside HoYeon Jung in the film will be Lily-Rose Depp and Renate Reinsve. Reinsve got a BAFTA Award nomination recently. She also won the Cannes Best Actress Award for her role as Julie in The Worst Person in the World. The film received Oscar nominations for Best International Feature Film and Best Original Screenplay.
Directing the film will be Joe Talbot. This will be Talbot’s second film with A24, following the critical success of The Last Black Man in San Francisco.

HoYeon received a SAG Award and other awards for her role as Kang Sae-byeok on Netflix’s hit survival drama Squid Game.
She’ll next be seen in Alfonso Cuarón’s thriller series Disclaimer for Apple TV+, with Kodi Smit-McPhee, Cate Blanchett, Sacha Baron Cohen, and Kevin Kline. Hoyeon will portray Kim, a determined, diligent, and eager-to-please character.

The series marks the first installment of the streamer’s multi-year exclusive partnership with Cuarón. As a result, it is the first time the Oscar winner has written and directed every episode of a new show. He’s also a producer on the forthcoming film Raymond and Ray, which will premiere on Apple TV+ this autumn.
