Netflix has a thing for workplace comedies. The streaming service is home to some of the most popular workplace sitcoms, including The Office, Parks and Recreation, and Superstore. The American platform is now all set to entertain the viewers with another workplace comedy called Blockbuster. Though the show is about the idiosyncrasies of ordinary people in an office set-up, it has an unconventional subject that sets it apart from other series.

With Blockbuster, Netflix highlights the struggles and mindset of the employees of the last remaining store of Blockbuster Video in The United States of America. Notably, a decade ago, Blockbuster Video had around 9,000 stores across the globe. However, the rise of the streaming platforms like Netflix slowly led to the downfall of the video-rental place. What new is stored for the fans in the Blockbuster television series?

A glance at Blockbuster by Netflix

Blockbuster will explore the lives of the dedicated staff of the last video-rental store in a comical way. While we expect the viewers to experience a plethora of emotions, satire and humor will be the top two throughout. The story is expected to be narrated with Timmy Yoon as the protagonist.

He is an analog dreamer living in a 5G world. Timmy would do everything in his capacity to save the last existing store of Blockbuster Video. He will be joined by his long-time crush, Eliza. Their entire community will fight together to stay relevant against big corporate giants.

The series is expected to spill out some facts on how the last store employees are struggling for their existence in the rapidly modernizing world. However, there will be a dash of humor and certain fictional scenes may be created to keep the viewers hooked on their television screens. The ten-episode sitcom has Randall Park as the leading man while they have cast Melissa Fumero opposite him for the role of Eliza.
