Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s Melissa Fumero to Reunite With Vanessa Ramos on Netflix’s ‘Blockbuster’ 

Melissa Fumero best known for her role in the NBC comedy series, Brooklyn Nine-Nine is to work again with Vanessa Ramos in her next Netflix project, Blockbuster. Vanessa Ramos had worked as a writer-producer on Brooklyn Nine-Nine briefly, where Fumero played detective Amy Santiago. 

Netflix‘s Blockbuster is an upcoming workplace comedy that is going to be shot in single-camera mode. The 10 episode sitcom will take place in the last remaining Blockbuster video store. Employees at the video store are struggling to keep the store running against all odds to hilarious effects.  

Fumero to play the female lead in Blockbuster on Netflix

Fumero is set to play the female lead, Eliza alongside Randall Park. She has made some questionable choices like dropping out of Harvard to start a family with her high school sweetheart. Now, at present, she works at Blockbuster. 

The actress is keeping herself busy working on several projects simultaneously. You can catch Fumero in Jim Mahoney’s Bar Fight, next. The actress also has a recurring role on One Day at a Time and is starring in HBO’s Room 104.

David Caspe and Jackie Clarke will serve as writers and executive produce for Blockbuster. Payman Benz is another Brooklyn Nine-Nine alumnus who will join Netflix Blockbuster, as a director and co-executive producer. He will be producing the pilot and the subsequent four episodes. 

Will there be a Brooklyn Nine-Nine season 9?

Originally aired on Fox, NBC picked up the show after the former canceled it. Season 8 of Brooklyn Nine-Nine aired on Sept 16, 2021, on NBC. It was the last and final season of the show and, sadly, it won’t be returning for another season. Andy Samberg and the creators had mutually agreed to end the show after 153 episodes. The goodbye was indeed bittersweet for such a long-running program, but the creators tied all the loose ends by the end to allow for a satisfying conclusion
