Ever since Shadow and Bone first appeared on Netflix in the April of 2021, fans have been desperately awaiting a season 2. Unfortunately, due to COVID norms, Netflix couldn’t renew the series early on. In fact, when the platform announced the show’s renewal in May of the same year, fans were expecting the shooting to begin soon after that. But, come January and the shooting still hasn’t begun. Synopsis

To do something different and bring to fans a new perspective with a new culture and fascinating history, Leigh Bardugo created the Grishaverse.

The Grishaverse is a take on Imperial Russia, under the Tsardom of the Romanov family. The rigid classist society, the powerful monarchy, the country torn due to war, and finally, a monarchy that is so disconnected from its people that they forget about their struggles- all of this can be traced back to 19th century Russia ravaged after wars as significant as the Napoleonic wars and the Tsardom of the Romanov family.

With a backdrop of magic and its likes, season 1 of the series health with the first book in the Grisha Trilogy by Leigh Bardugo. In season 2 of Shadow and Bone, we will watch Alina and Mal run from the Darkling, who seeks revenge and Alina’s powers. Adding to the mix, there will be new characters in this Netflix adaptation.

Shadow and Bone season 2 release date

After its release in April 2021, Netflix confirmed that Shadow and Bone will be back for a season 2, but the platform hasn’t announced a release date yet. According to Netflix Life, Netflix has renewed the series in June 2021. The shooting was to begin “soon” but there have been no updates on this.

Fans are expecting the shooting of season 2 of the Netflix Original to begin in January 2022, which itself is a lot later than fans were expecting, considering the show’s success. Then again, there is no news that can confirm this. All fans have are strong speculations. Every Thanksgiving, Netflix releases a fantasy series for the fans to binge-watch during the holiday season and we can only expect it is Shadow and Bone filling that quota this season.
