In a recent conversation with Tudum, Duffer Brothers revealed their idea behind adding Eddie Munson to the series. As the team asked them about Eddie who brought freshness with him onscreen. “Why was he just what Season 4 needed? And why was Joe Quinn ideal to play him and disrupt the Steve and Dustin bromance?”
To which the creators replied that they have been considerate about adding new characters. For instance, they cast Sadie Sink and Dacre Montgomery in season 2 as Max and Billy. And then bubbly Robin in season 3 is portrayed by the American actress Maya Hawke. Although they had to meditate deeply on things before introducing new people. Because the show already had such an exceptional set of actors like Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour.
However, they wanted a unique story for season 4 something like “satanic panic” which fans would find convincing.
“We really wanted that character who’s a metalhead, he’s into Dungeons & Dragons, he’s ultimately a true nerd at heart,” remarked Duffer Brothers on the Tudum set.
