Ryan Reynolds, with his back-to-back hits off the late, is proving to be one of the most bankable stars in the industry. Ever since Deadpool, the actor has been turning any project that has him as an actor or producer into a success. Now be it a Christmas movie or a sports docuseries, as long as it has Ryan Reynolds, people will watch it. However, this has not come easy to the actor who has suffered from some tough failures at the box office. His 2013 science fiction action comedy, R.I.P.D, being the most crowned disappointment with a horrifying 12% Rotten Tomatoes rating among other rotten tomatoes that were virtually thrown at it in the form of reviews.
But if there is a will, then there is always a way, and Reynolds’ R.I.P.D. charting at No.1 on Netflix in the United States is proof of that. The action comedy has surpassed new and exciting releases like David Harbour’s We Have a Ghost to make its way to the top. This is a miracle considering the absolute horror that the film was during its run at the cinemas with only $78 million earnings against a $130 million budget.

It often happens with movies that follow a more nuanced approach in their writing that they fail to amass a massive following at the cinemas. However, the chances of it finally rising from the bottom of the bond quite literally considering how it was at the very bottom of Reynolds’ filmography were one in a million. But call it the devotion of Reynolds’ fans to appreciate his art or Netflix allowing its viewers to appreciate good content, but R.I.P.D attained its claim to fame.
Short for Rest in Peace Department, R.I.P.D, the movie featured Reynolds in an action avatar as he portrayed a detective. Throw in stolen gold, drug busts, and more explosions and you get R.I.P.D. The movie, despite its failure, did get another addition with R.I.P.D. 2: Rise of the Damned, but without Ryan Reynolds.
