These are tough times for Britain as they are grieving the loss of Queen Elizabeth II, who breathed her last on September 08 at 96. Amidst the mourning, there are also questions about the future of the House of Windsor. In his new regime, King Charles III has to make a tough decision regarding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
The two parted ways with the royal family over two years back and settled in California. Their relationship with their subjects in the United Kingdom has deteriorated since then, with both Harry and Meghan playing the victim card in front of the world. However, the royal watchers are expecting a reconciliation between King Charles III and his son in honor of the last queen. A royal historian reflected on the Queen’s stance regarding the future of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
What was Queen Elizabeth II’s dearest wish?
In an exclusive conversation with People, royal historian Robert Hardman reflected on the relationship between the last matriarch and Prince Harry saying that “Queen adored Harry right to the end, and Harry adored her.” Hardman is famous for his book Queen of Our Times: The Life of Queen Elizabeth II.
The historian believes that it is the correct time for Harry and Meghan to resolve all the differences with the House of Windsor. He is of the opinion that the Queen would have wanted to see her entire family together in the United Kingdom.
“I think she was one of the conduits between Windsor and California, and it would have been one of her dearest wishes that [the family] patch things up,” Robert said.
Where do Harry and Meghan stand with the Royal Family?
Meanwhile, it is tough to predict the dynamic between Harry and Meghan and the Royal Family. King Charles III hinted at a possible reunion when he sent love and warm wishes to the Sussex royals in his first address as a new monarch.
William and Kate also took a big step by inviting Harry and Meghan for a walk outside Windsor Castle following the Queen’s demise. However, there are also reports about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex being upset with the King for not giving HRH titles to their children, Archie and Lilibet.
